Frequently Asked Questions

1

Are your mushrooms safe to eat?

When cooked, yes. Most mushrooms — even the ones you see at a salad bar — should be cooked. Mushrooms contain compounds our bodies cannot break down when raw, and over time that can become a health risk.

2

How should I store fresh mushrooms?

Store mushrooms in a paper bag in the refrigerator. Plastic prevents airflow, causing mushrooms to sweat and creating an environment for bacteria.

3

How long do fresh mushrooms last?

  • Blue, White & Black Pearl Oysters: 7–10 days

  • Pink Oysters: 4 days after harvest

  • Golden Oysters: 5 days

  • Lion’s Mane & Comb’s Tooth: 10–14 days

  • Chestnuts, Enoki & Pioppino: 4–5 days

  • Shiitake: 7–10 days

4

Do you wash the mushrooms before selling them?

You shouldn’t need to. They are handled with gloves, clean totes, and kept in cold storage. If you choose to wash them, cook them the same day. Mushrooms absorb moisture and don’t wash well. Brush off any growing media.

5

Are your mushrooms organic?

We are not certified organic, but we do not use pesticides, fungicides, or harsh chemicals. We grow indoors and use high‑pressure air to limit bugs.

6

Do you use chemicals or pesticides?

No. We only use soap and water to clean floors and shelves.

7

How do I cook your mushrooms?

We love barbecuing them. Cut them up, season, grill with a sauce, and serve as a side or main dish.

8

Can I eat your mushrooms raw?

No. Our bodies cannot process chitin, and oyster mushrooms especially can cause stomach upset when eaten raw.

9

Do you sell medicinal or functional mushrooms?

We sell functional mushrooms.

10

What’s the difference between fresh mushrooms and tinctures/teas?

  • Fresh mushrooms: Eat when cooked.

  • Tinctures: Mushrooms extracted with water and alcohol, then strained to create a shelf‑stable, concentrated product.

  • Tea: Dried or freeze‑dried mushrooms or powders blended with functional herbs.

11

How do I use your tinctures?

Use a few droppers under the tongue or add to coffee.

12

Do your products contain allergens?

If you’re allergic to tannins, avoid our chai. If you’re allergic to cane ethanol, avoid our extracts.
